i Marriage Series - What did you learn?
"Wives, be subject to your own husbands...." 1 Peter 3:1
Think back to the beginning of the series when PK (Pastor Kenny) preached on the role of women. What do you think about the Bible's teaching on a woman's submission to her husband? Does that concept leave a bad taste in your mouth? Or does your spirit say, YES! That's what I want!
I had a friend once who told me her mother told her, "Submission is like eating mud, but you gotta do it." She believed in being submissive to her husband, but she did not like it! And, let me tell you, I can relate. I still have this sinful flesh that I have to deal with, and my flesh says, "Yuck, I do not like this." It's a hard struggle.
Sometimes I think we begin with the wrong question. When we hear a preacher or bible teacher say, "You must submit to your husband," the first thing we want to say is, "Yeah, but, that's not right. That's not fair. I don't like that." Instead, we should ask ourselves, "Is this truly what the Bible teaches?"
You need to wrestle with that question honestly and take the time to study what God's Word is saying to you on this. Only then can you truly begin to take this teaching to heart and start living in obedience to the Lord in this area.
Once you have wrestled with it, and come to realize that, yes, this is what God is saying in His Word and yes, He is telling me, a wife in the year 2009, living in the United States of America, that I am to submit to my husband. Then, your next question will probably be, How can I obey Him in this area? It's so hard! My flesh resists it so much. But I know it's what God says, and I want to see it the way He sees it.
So, tell me, do you believe that the Bible is God's Word, and that He is indeed speaking to us wives when He says we are to submit to our husbands??

There Will Be a Day with No More Tears
From the album Speaking Louder Than Before
I try to hold on to this world with everything I have
But I feel the weight of what it brings,
and the hurt that tries to grab
The many trials that seem to never end,
His word declares this truth,
that we will enter in this rest with wonders anew
But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering
Chorus
There will be a day with no more tears,
no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
will be no more, we'll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we'll hold on to you always
I know the journey seems so long
You feel you’re walking on your own
But there has never been a step
Where you’ve walked out all alone
Troubled soul, don’t lose your heart
Cause joy and peace he brings
And the beauty that’s in store
Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting
But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings That there will be a place with no more suffering
(Chorus)
I can’t wait until that day
where the very One I’ve lived for
always will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced
To touch the scars that rescued me
from a life of shame and misery
this is why, this is why I sing
(Chorus)

Welcome to BGBC blog
I am sitting here in FL in the warm sunshine--I do feel sorry that you are having to experience such very cold weather! Really, I do! We pray for all of you that you will be safe! However, I want to remind you all that even though we are down here in the warm climate, God has not let us go into retirement! I don't think there is anywhere in the Bible that says that we "retire" from God's work!
The question comes what two books have most helped me to live a godly life? Of course the first and by far the greatest is THE BIBLE!!! It is so important that we stay in this book everyday so that we know the roadmap that God has for us. If we aren't in the Bible, we cannot know what God wants in each of our lives! I believe that the next book would be most any book written by Karen Kingsbury--her writing has always challenged me to live a more godly life. If you have not read her books--let me encourage you to do so.
My last post for today is, let me encourage each of you to sign up the for the Ladies' Bible study beginning February 2 on the Frazzled Female! You will get a blessing by just meeting with this great group of ladies! Be sure and let Leann Heern or sign up on the foyer table for this fun study!
May God bless each of you in your walk with the Lord!
For Him,
Jane
