i Marriage Series - What did you learn?

Hey Ladies! Today has marked the end of Pastor Kenny's iMarriage series at BGBC. I would like to ask you what you thought of it, and what you learned. There was a lot of information, I know, and it takes some time to digest and put it into practice. But, let's start a discussion.

"Wives, be subject to your own husbands...." 1 Peter 3:1

Think back to the beginning of the series when PK (Pastor Kenny) preached on the role of women. What do you think about the Bible's teaching on a woman's submission to her husband? Does that concept leave a bad taste in your mouth? Or does your spirit say, YES! That's what I want!

I had a friend once who told me her mother told her, "Submission is like eating mud, but you gotta do it." She believed in being submissive to her husband, but she did not like it! And, let me tell you, I can relate. I still have this sinful flesh that I have to deal with, and my flesh says, "Yuck, I do not like this." It's a hard struggle.

Sometimes I think we begin with the wrong question. When we hear a preacher or bible teacher say, "You must submit to your husband," the first thing we want to say is, "Yeah, but, that's not right. That's not fair. I don't like that." Instead, we should ask ourselves, "Is this truly what the Bible teaches?"

You need to wrestle with that question honestly and take the time to study what God's Word is saying to you on this. Only then can you truly begin to take this teaching to heart and start living in obedience to the Lord in this area.

Once you have wrestled with it, and come to realize that, yes, this is what God is saying in His Word and yes, He is telling me, a wife in the year 2009, living in the United States of America, that I am to submit to my husband. Then, your next question will probably be, How can I obey Him in this area? It's so hard! My flesh resists it so much. But I know it's what God says, and I want to see it the way He sees it.

So, tell me, do you believe that the Bible is God's Word, and that He is indeed speaking to us wives when He says we are to submit to our husbands??

There Will Be a Day with No More Tears

Jeremy Camp - "There Will Be A Day"
From the album Speaking Louder Than Before

I try to hold on to this world with everything I have
But I feel the weight of what it brings,
and the hurt that tries to grab
The many trials that seem to never end,
His word declares this truth,
that we will enter in this rest with wonders anew

But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings
That there will be a place with no more suffering

Chorus
There will be a day with no more tears,
no more pain, and no more fears
There will be a day when the burdens of this place,
will be no more, we'll see Jesus face to face
But until that day, we'll hold on to you always

I know the journey seems so long
You feel you’re walking on your own
But there has never been a step
Where you’ve walked out all alone
Troubled soul, don’t lose your heart
Cause joy and peace he brings
And the beauty that’s in store
Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting

But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings That there will be a place with no more suffering

(Chorus)

I can’t wait until that day
where the very One I’ve lived for
always will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced
To touch the scars that rescued me
from a life of shame and misery
this is why, this is why I sing

(Chorus)
